How our recent hire shipped 5 new features in his first 15 days.

We’ve had a long list of feature requests on CloudBoost waiting to be fulfilled by our engineering team, and our team was literally stretched thin between supporting existing customers, fixing bugs on the platform, and helping other customers migrate off Parse and move to CloudBoost. Parse shutdown literally quadrupled our traffic and we were desperately looking to hire someone that could not only increase the bandwidth of the team, but could also satisfy those feature requests our customers were eagerly waiting for — in some cases for months (we do apologize for the delay). Shubham, our new hire did exactly just that.

Shubham joined CloudBoost as one of the engineers on the CloudBoost Engine and since then, we’ve been shipping code multiple times a day. Our tight CI/CD pipeline with Travis + Docker + Kubernetes and tests ensures that whatever works in development also works in staging and finally in production. This helps us ship code to production literally multiple times/day without dropping a single API request from our customers and with 0 downtime.

We’ve been working on features that most of our customers requested (a lot!) since the last couple of months. Few of them are Import and Export Data where you can export JSON and have a local copy of all of the data you have on CloudBoost and you can roll back your database to a local copy of your JSON file.

We have also worked on Native MongoDB Access where we give you the complete access to the MongoDB of your app so you can leverage existing MongoDB libraries and tools for your app.

Both of these features are available to all of our paying customers.

We’ve also worked on Email Campaigns where we make it crazy simple to send emails to all of the users of your app. You can check this feature out on CloudBoost Portal. We’re planning to add HTML support and channeling capabilities soon.

Shubham also helped us reduce our tech debt. We’re moving from Angular 1 to React and we’ve already started re-writing our UI. Accounts has already been migrated and we’re now working on the new data-browser. Most of our customers complained about the current data browser (and we agree!) that is not fluid, natural and fast. We’re rewriting the whole thing in react to make sure you finally get the experience you deserve and an experience that will WOW you.

Everyone in the team is working super hard every single day to help you shave weeks (or even months) of your development time and get to your users faster. Let us know what you think about these new features (these are ofcourse in beta for few weeks) and yes, if you have any more features that you want us to implement in the product — you can shout it out here. We’re also considering to open our Trello board (or migrating the board to GitHub), so you can exactly see who is working on what and can vote for features you need. We’ll definitely keep you posted on this (probably in the next blog post).

We’re also super excited to be working with Shubham and thank him for his incredible work done so far. Our engineering team is still stretching thin and we’re looking for more engineers to join us and help us build CloudBoost. If you like what we do and love working with JavaScript / NodeJS or know someone who does — We’d be glad if you dropped us a line.
